In the last article you learned 7 reasons why to meditate in order to reduce stress and be happier. In this article you will find 7 reasons why meditating is good for your mind.

By meditating, you can become happier, you can concentrate more effectively and you can change your brain in ways that support that
Dr Richard Davidson, who did scientific studies on the effects of meditation.

More clarity, insight, mindfulness and strength of mind

  1. It has been shown people who meditate have more focus and clarity of thought.
  2. Mindfulness has been proven to help people overcome mental health issues.
  3. By being able to find stillness in ourself, we open up to higher creativity.
  4. People who can focus their mind (developed through meditation) can achieve a lot – with less ‘willpower’, less force, and less controlling behaviours or fears.
  5. Mindfulness in meditation = mindfulness outside meditation = more care and attention to what we are doing, the affects of our actions, and what needs to be done to get the outcomes we want (or the best outcome for all involved, if that’s what you desire).
  6. More absorption and mindfulness = more consciousness to use to explore any subject, and to a greater depth = more intelligence, more insight, more wisdom.
  7. Psychic abilities are easier to develop with a mind trained in meditation.

pic: girl with heavy telescopeImagine looking through a very powerful but heavy telescope without a tripod. With the power of this telescope you could look at something far away and yet see every detail. However, because it is heavy, and you are holding it in your shaky hands, the image is blurred. In this imaginary scenario, pretend this is the way you have been taught how to use this particular kind of instrument and no-one thinks there may be a benefit in placing it on a surface to steady the image. You will soon get used to the blurred image and think this is as good as it gets.

When you gain some absorption through meditation, it is like putting the telescope of your mind on a tripod – the stillness makes everything so much clearer, the detail so much more obvious, and you will gain such insights you will be deemed a genius.

A better life

  • By controlling what one focuses on, a person can determine what they attract (Law of Attraction), so experienced meditators find things work out for them and life is enjoyable.
  • More absorption = more consciousness and presence = higher vibration.
  • Training the mind helps you take control of your mind – and therefore your LIFE.

Even with just a little practice, meditation reduces your stress levels, lifts your happiness hormone levels, and helps you focus more clearly.

How much is it worth to you?

Every observation of the object of meditation is therefore hugely precious, like gold-dust you can spend twice – immediately on reducing stress, enhancing your health and gaining more clarity and creativity – and later can be redeemed once you have enough for an ingot (a little depth in absorption) worth… well, you tell me?!
